WHAT DID YOU THINK ABOUT THE 2009 BET AWARDS

Posted 6/29/2009 12:05:00 PM
Hey Peeps!

Last night, I had an impromtu BET Awards Watch Party! Between my kids, neices, and nephews playing church and doing the stanky leg, I was blogging on Facebook and Twitter about the show to hear everyone's reactions to the performers, skits, and comments about Micheal Jackson.

I thought the performance of Johnny Gill, Tyrese, and Trey Songz was off the hook....the O'Jays showed the young'em how it is done....and Jay-Z ripped it!

But, their was more, Ne-Yo, Mary Mary, Keyshia Cole & Monica, Kieth Sweat, Guy, & BBD...this show was pack with Black Star Power.

The skit with Ugly Wanda and Sha-nay-nay was bananas!

It was great to see Icon Don Cornelius, the creator of Soul Train, which was the original media that visually exposed African-Americans performers and young adults and their fashion and dance trends.

Even in mourning, Janet Jackson is still beautiful.

Their was a lot ...

MJJ: The Last Great American Dream!

I thought my Father’s Day blog was going to be difficult, but this just doesn’t seem real.

The undisputed, no matter what the weight class is, greatest performer that ever touched the stage, Micheal Jackson, died today....Thursday, June 25th, 2009.

I have seen some great performers go in my lifetime….Elvis, Sammy, Luther, Pearl Bailey, James, Sinatra, Crosby, and Astaire. But, this really seems, “gone too soon.”!

Micheal was…wow, I use the word was…an electrifying performer, a strategic businessman, a caring world-wide philanthropists, and a cross-culture phenom…yes; he had some flaws and made some terrible life decisions….show me a human that hasn’t…he was still all good..

In the coming days, the ugliest parts of his life will be revealed, rumored, and speculated, but I refuse to concentrate on that. I am not going to lie; this will be a very biased blog because without a shadow of a doubt, I have ...

A plea deal has been reached in the assault case against singer Chris Brown, defense attorney Mark Geragos said in a hearing Monday.

Under terms of the agreement, Brown will serve five years of probation and complete 180 days of community service.

Brown, 20, had previously pleaded not guilty to felony counts of assault and making criminal threats in connection with an attack on his girlfriend, Rhianna, also a singer.

There will be less fizzle this 4th of July Weekend

Posted 6/22/2009 3:00:00 PM
If you are like me, you're always looking for something fun, exciting, & free for the kids in the summer.

There's nothing like a fireworks display...something fun, exciting, & free.

I have some great memories of my brother, Zack, and his friend, Lee Winfield, gathering up a couple of friends in my neighborhood; along with Lee's kids, Lesley and Julian, and going to the St. Louis Riverfront to view the infamous VP Fair 4th of July Fireworks Display under the Arch.  Back in the day, it was hot...noisy...crowded, but the best time ever!

It's gonna be sad to see, that some kids won't have this same affinity for the 4th of July this year.  Due to shortcomings in the budgets, some of the metro area's most popular 4th of July Celebrations will not be jumping off...click here to find out which ones.

Happy Fathers Day

This is probably the most difficult blog that I have ever written. You see, my blog entries are not just help or information for you; they are also counseling and therapeutic for me. It took me a full week to complete this entry.

Father’s Day should be a simply celebration of men that illustrate compassion, love, and guidance to their adapted, biological, or appointed children

When I think of Father’s Day, I think of my Dad…somebody that enjoys life, even though age has slowed him down...on his own since he was 12…high school graduate…has life-long friends…monitored me around the clock …retired after nearly 40 yrs of service…for almost 10 of those years, he worked two full-time jobs…woke up every morning to cook my breakfast and to take me to the bus stop and a lot of mornings to school…very opinionated…kicked it on Saturday nights…at church every Sunday morning…great taste and ...

Dear Mr. Jon Stephens, President of the Kansas City Power & Light District

Posted 6/8/2009 1:30:00 PM
I have now found a love for blogging.

When we launched this site, we were asked to blog…my thoughts were, “WTH am I going to blog about!” Then, I made a decision to blog on personal experiences, current & lifestyle events, and my most guarded opinions.

Today, I’m blogging to vent! That’s why I have found a new fascination in blogging. In my own personal way, I can discuss and be brutally honest about my thoughts on various issues including the P&L District vs. DJ Jazzy Jeff.

Here is a letter that I would love to send to the suits of the P&L District…if there is something you would like for me to add, please leave in the comment section:

Dear Mr. Jon Stephens,

I heard your interview on 610 today and last night I saw you on camera with KMBC-TV concerning Saturday night’s fiasco on the KC Live Stage. ...

DJ Jazzy Jeff asked to live the Power & Light District

Posted 6/7/2009 5:05:00 PM
OK...I know this sounds crazy but on Saturday night, legendary musical artist DJ Jazzy Jeff of the Grammy Winning Duo, DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince, was in town to perform on the KC Live Stage at the Kansas City Power & Light District.
According to numerous postings on Twitter & Facebook, after a 15-30 min performance, DJ Jazzy Jeff was asked to discontinue his performance because he was playing Hip-Hop Music.

Check out the post on Jeff's Twitter page, "they wanted Top 40" and "they kicked me off the stage in Kansas City for playing Hip-Hop."

KC P&L District officials explained their side of the story on the pitch.com. They are saying that after several attempts to get Jeff to comply, they asked him to discontnue his performance becasue his music was too loud.

I am not making this up!

Now, I'm not saying that either side is ...

Soccer Moms Unite!

I know your remember the infamous line issued by Sarah Palin at last year's Republican National Convention, "what do you call a pitbull with lip stick....a Hockey Mom."

Well for Kansas City, take out Hockey Mom and add Soccer Mom, cause Miley Cirus is coming back to the Sprint Center....October 3rd.

Do you remember the last fiasco that went down in KC when Hanna Manatana aka Miley Cirus brought her World Tour?

Soccer Moms...surburban mothers, lost their freakin minds and were foaming at the mouth because there were no tickets availalble for purchase!

Scalpers & Professional Ticket Providers made a killing at the Box Office!

And, the Sprint Center got blamed for the problems...but basked in the spotlight.
The City Manager gave his pair of tickets away just to please one family in thousands that were disappointed.

Well, now, they think they have the problem solved with the "paperless ticket"....I'm laughing ...
