I liked a lot of things growing up, but I was never a fanatic about any of it. I liked Reggie Jackson, Evil Kenivel, Michael Jackson, Farah Fawcitt and The Dukes of Hazard and such, but I wasn't the type to put up posters or walk around with a glitter glove or sleep out over night to be the first in line to see a new movie.

Not judging or anything just don't know when people draw the line between admiration and obsession? At this very moment there are people all over the world dressed as their favorite vampire from the Twilight movie waiting to see the new film from the popular series of books.

Who knows maybe I'm missing out.

Oh the weather outside is frightful

Man I know it's inevitable, & it's just another day of living in this part of the country, but I am so not ready!!!! Had an ugly reminder as I was coming to work this afternoon, I was trailing three MODOT trucks and with the weather changing today that's not a good sign.

Yes SNOW, SNOW is on the way! Nothing accumulating as of yet but this is only the beginning. And depending on who you talk to the mild summer we had could mean a very long snowy winter. Winter time in Kansas City is gorgeous provided you can look out the window and see it & not have to get out & drive in it.

Which is not an option for most of us, so I guess preparing for it is all we can do, sealing off those drafty windows and doors, stocking up on fire wood & ...

stupid is as stupid does I guess

The list of athletes & entertainers that just don't seem to get how blessed they are just continues to get bigger. I'm almost starting to believe the old adage "more money more problems" or then again, maybe there are just some simple minded ass people out there that don't know how to separate themselves from the non sense in the name of keeping it real.

Now I'm starting to wonder if your going to keep doing the same hood mess that has kept you in & out of the system all of your life anyway, why bother even getting a record deal or sports contract in the first place if your only gonna blow it?

it just sucks that all the wrong people get these opportunities & blow them for the sake of being "down"

It's the most wonderful time of the year

Ok it's that time of the year, an I'm very excited! One because Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of all, secondly I LOVE CHRISTMAS MUSIC!!!!!!! I listen to it year round so of course I get the stank eye from a lot of folks, but I don't care I'm a big nerd & always have been.

Huge fan of most all of the Christmas & holiday shows that come on TV this time of the year, so if you see me & I'm extra happy, or you pull up next to me in traffic & I'm jamming a little extra hard it's just the Christmas music.

So grab a verse & sing along, besides that's the best part of a good Christmas song, singing with friends!

Told you I was a nerd :-)

This is It

The UK was defiantly in for an amazing string of shows this past summer, too bad the worlds greatest entertainer didn't live to perform the 50 shows that were sold out at London's 02 arena. However over this Halloween weekend "Michael Jackson's This is it" the footage shot during rehearsals for the before mentioned concerts hit the big screen & of course was the number 1 movie across the globe bringing in over $60 million.

Being a Michael fan I myself have seen the movie 4 times myself this weekend and plan to see it a few more times. Though marketing of the film leeds you to believe it's some sort of documentary about the last few days of his life when actually it's pretty much Mike in concert giving a glimpse into what was in store for London for those 50 shows.

& man what an AMAZING SHOW! His ...

I hope yo daddy gets the hot poker treatment

How is it that some folks will go as far as to have the entire world glued to the TV or computer screen Praying for their child's safety for hours all in an attempt to get some publicity. What is really wrong with our society today?

It's that damn reality TV farce if you ask me. People will do any & everything just for a chance to have that 15 minutes. I mean really exploiting your child's welfare in a pathetic attempt for attention? Where does it end?

Where I come from we were told never to burn bread on someone we care about cause that mess just may come back to haunt you. We were all relieved to know that ballon boy as he's now being called in the media is ok, but as for his parents & whoever else was involved in the whole shame deserve whatever justice ...

Don't whine avoid the swine

This swine flu stuff is getting rather serious, & were not doing much to protect ourselves. As a matter of fact I read just last week that 1 out of 4 men don't wash their hands when leaving the restroom, Not only is that just plain nasty, but a man will be the first person to reach out give you a grip, hand shake or dap of some sort.

That can spread something a lot worse than the swine flu. We need to protect ourselves a lot better, there is nothing wrong with giving a fist pound, or just a simple wave, but washing your hands frequently, and washing down things in your office that others may use with some sort of disinfectant cloth would be a wise idea.

Carry around some hand sanitizer and watch what you put in your hands & near your face.

check yo self before you wreck yo self

I recently had a very dear friend of mine pass away from colon cancer, and you constantly hear people speak of the importance of getting to the doctors and being checked out. I just don't get why we still have to have this conversation, it's better to know before the problem gets out of control & you no longer have to worry about going to see the Dr. or even breathing for that matter, because without regular check ups there is only one alternative.

The excuse of no insurance is not flying anymore, the number of free health screenings is ridiculous plus local public hospitals offer some of the best care in the world even when you can't pay.

I know some of these test can be uncomfortable, but I'm sure death hurts a whole lot more especially for those of us left to grieve your passing.

The good old days!

ahhhh another cool autumn Friday night and that means High School football, but this time it's a little different because I'm not sitting in the stands with my fellow classmates about to watch my boys do some damage, I am my sons game and it's homecoming and I'm hoping HE's about to do a little damage.

He attends a private school & last night true to most homecoming traditions, the house was TP'd by the rival team. These traditions are painfully absent from the KCMO school district. Some will blame the Magnet school break up of the district while others blame the the school board.

whatever the problem is, these kids that attend school in the KCMO district are missing out on that sense of neighborhood pride, that school sprit that had you staying after school on Fridays in the fall for fear of being late to the games and ...

Even a Masters won't erase your slave mentality

Sometimes (even though I know I shouldn't be) I am amazed by the level of ignorance by which some adults I know live their lives. I had a conversation with some of my coworkers about the cycle of stupidity in our community, and why it will not end. It boiled down to us passing down all the wrong things.

One of the things being education, and heres where the conversation goes south. One of my co workers seems to think that the only way a black person can survive in this country is with a mild case of Schizophrenia! That's right, he tends to think that you have to have your work persona (professional, educated & well versed), but once you go home to your community you flip to some step & fetch hoodlum clown so you can maintain the respect of the hood.

This is the STUPIDEST S*@T I've ...
