Black Panther’s Impact Beyond the Box Office

It’s officially Black Panther week!

While it’s on point breaking records, there is a serious aspect to the film. With a black cast of superheroes, there has been no movie of its’ kind. This is creating major dialogue and negates any narrative that falsely depicts all black ensembles in a genre such as this can’t be a blockbuster.

Here’s a couples of conversations on the film I saw this weekend on MSNBC. The first, Rev. Al Sharpton sat down with the creator of the #BlackPantherChallenge and philanthropist Frederick T. Joseph. The two talk about the importance of Black Panther and black superheroes. As they also touch on black excellence, the creators of Spokehub App, Robert Hartsfield Jr and John York to discuss the importance of black owned businesses.

Yesterday actor Winston Duke, who plays villian M’Baku/Man-Ape, discussed the film’s cultural impact with audiences everywhere.

Black Panther hits theaters this weekend. Let’s show our full support by showing up opening weekend.
