American Red Cross collecting disaster relief donations for local tornado victims

American Red Cross disaster teams are working around the clock to help individuals and families in need after severe weather events, such as wildfires, tornadoes and spring storms, occurred across the country over the last two weeks. It’s because of people like you that the Red Cross is there to provide comfort and support to those affected wherever disaster strikes.

Several states across the Midwest have been heavily impacted by tornadoes in what has been characterized as the worst tornado season since 2012.

In Missouri, Red Cross workers opened shelters after tornadoes touched down in Smithville, Clinton and Oak Grove. Specifically, in Perryville, Missouri, the Red Cross has:

  • Served nearly 12,200 meals and snacks
  • Distributed over 6,500 relief items
  • Supported over 30 health and mental health services

If you or a loved one is in need of assistance, here is how to get help now. Simple tools like the Red Cross Emergency App can provide safety alerts to people with severe weather impacting their region as well as tips on how to stay safe before, during and after emergencies like floods, tornadoes and over 33 other types of disasters.

Across the country, disasters big and small happen every day and Red Cross volunteers are there to provide support to impacted families including warm meals, a place to stay, basic essentials and clean up kits – plus guidance on how to take the next steps to recover.

With a robust winter storm season still in play along with wildfires and home fires, you can do something right now to make sure that families facing devastation can get help right away.

If you can help a family that has been affected by a disaster, please make a gift now by donating to Red Cross Disaster Relief.
