Meek Mill’s fight for freedom has been going on since he was incarcerated in November for a probation violation. Here’s an update and you can check out his attorney speaking out on corrupt Philly police.

According to PhillyVoice.com, Meek’s judge Genece Brinkley — who sentenced the rapper to two to four years in prison, has set a post-conviction hearing for Meek’s lawyers to file an appeal to overturn his conviction. The rapper’s legal team are urging Brinkley to overturn the conviction due to recently released evidence detailing examples of police corruption, specifically involving Meek’s 2007 arresting officer, Reginald Graham. On another note, Meek’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, spoke to Billboard about the new development in the case, calling it “mind-blowing:”

“It’s mind-blowing, but it’s also just par for the course in this case. You had a case where a judge gives a guy two to four years when the District Attorney and the probation officer [recommended] zero. In a case when the judge asked Meek to redo a Boyz II Men song and use her name in it… I mean it’s just par for the friggin’ course. It really is for this case. It’s over the top. It’s insane.”
