What to Watch: Taraji’s Upcoming Film, Mile 22 Hits Theaters & More

Here are the movies opening nationwide via ABC Air Power Prep:

Mile 22 — Mark Wahlberg stars as a CIA operative leading a small paramilitary team on a dangerous mission to sneak a police officer with sensitive information out of the country. John Malkovich, Lauren Cohan, Iko Uwais and Ronda Rousey also star. Rated R.


Alpha — Set in the ice age, a young man — played by Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Kodi Smit-McPhee — is separated from his tribe during a buffalo hunt and struggles to find his way home. Along the way, he befriends an injured wolf. Also starring Leonor Varela and Jens Hultén. Rated PG-13.

Crazy Rich Asian hits theaters Wednesday. It’s the first Asian-led studio release since 1993 when Joy Luck Club was out. It’s based on Kevin Kwan’s book of the same name. It follows a young Asian American woman, played by ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat star Constance Wu, who travels to Singapore to meet her boyfriend’s family, only to learn they’re super rich. Rated PG-13. (Trailer contains mild, uncensored profanity.)

The trailer for What Men Want, starring Taraji P. Henson dropped Tuesday. Erykah Badu is in it as well! The film is a remake of the  comedy What Women Want, from 2000. In this one, Taraji takes Mel Gibson’s role. She plays Ali Davis, a sports agent who got passed over for a promotion then gains the ability to hear men’s thoughts. It hits theaters January 11, 2019.

In TV Heat, no Power this Sunday. (Insert a big “boooo!”)  But check out part 2 of the Real Housewives of Potomac reunion on Bravo at 7. The hubby’s join the set. As check out Basketball Wives at 9 on Vh-1.
