Erykah Badu is facing backlash for comments she made about R. Kelly at a concert in Chicago on Saturday (January 19th). During the concert, the singer defended R. Kelly, saying:

“I don’t know how everybody else feel about it, but I’m putting out a prayer right now for R. I hope he sees the light of day if he’s done all those things that we’ve seen on TV. What y’all say, ‘f*** him?’ That’s not love. That’s not unconditional love…But What if one of the people that was assaulted by R. Kelly grows up to be an offender… We gonna crucify them? […] Just something to think about…”

Fans took to social media to react to Erykah’s words. One person wrote, “I really want to say how much I loved Erykah Badu’s concert tonight. But I can’t get over how she tried to justify and defend R. Kelly’s actions and reputation during her set… I’m so disappointed…”Erykah responded to the backlash on Twitter. She wrote, “I love you. Unconditionally. That doesn’t mean I support your poor choices. I want healing for you and anyone you have hurt as a result of you being hurt. Is that strange to you ? That’s all I’ve ever said. Anything else has been fabricated or taken out of context. – eb”

YoYo and Da Brat both has something to say about R. Kelly on the red carpet at the Trumpet Awards in Atlanta this past weekend. YoYo told TMZ that R. Kelly actually tried to talk to her 21-year-old daughter some time ago.

Da Brat who has worked with R. Kelly and considers him a friend weighed in.

In other news, one of R. Kelly’s former managers has surrendered to authorities on charges he made terroristic threats against the family of Joycelyn Savage — one of the singer’s alleged victims. On Friday it came out that Kellz and his longtime record label Sony Music had agreed to part ways.
