Strike Out Slavery: A Discussion on Modern Day Human Slavery

History was made at Angel Stadium Wednesday after Angels slugger Albert Pujols became the all-time hits leader among players born outside the US. But off the field he and his wife, Deidre Pujols, created Strike Out Slavery in 2017 to raise awareness about the existence of modern-day slavery. Deidre is a Kansas City native and is here to support the Strike Out Slavery Concert with Lauryn Hill at Kauffman this Saturday.

Human trafficking can impact anyone. Any age, race, gender, or nationality. According to the Global Slavery Index, about 40.3 million people are in modern-day slavery as of 2016. This includes forced labor and sex trafficking. Listen in as Deidre and trafficking survivor Harmony Grillo speak on the issue, assisting those impacted, and if you or someone you know is a victim of human trafficking, finding resources to help you.
