So, first things first. The Biden-Harris Administration did not cut funding for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Word spreads quickly on this internet. Last weekend, social media was in a frenzy claiming that the Biden-Harris Administration cut funding to HBCUs from $45 billion to $2 billion. That information was verified as false. Although the president offered up $45 billion for HBCUs, it would have to be approved through Congress. But since the Build Back Better Act is expected to go from $3.5 trillion to a possible $1.5 – $2.2 trillion, that may affect budget items including HBCU funding, according to reports.

But in addition to the $2 billion in added funding, how has this administration supported HBCUs? Dr. Tony Allen, President of Delaware State University and Chair of the President’s Board of Advisors on HBCUs gives the deets.
