#GetBoosted: Wichita Black Nurses Association’s Nurse Maggie Thompson Encourages Black & Brown Kansans to Get the COVID Booster

As the FDA has now authorized Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine booster shots, the Kansas Governor’s office has been active in outreach to encourage Kansans to receive their third shot. One way they’ve done so is connecting with the Wichita Black Nurses Association (WBNA) to address racial disparities. While 53% of Kansans have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, only 33% of Black Kansans and 43% of Hispanic or Latino Kansans have done so.

Nurse Maggie Thompson, an original member of the WBNA, has been working on the frontlines to address racial disparities around COVID and get people in her community vaccinated.
