With recent community concerns over missing Black women, Shirley’s Kitchen Cabinet is hosting the “Black & Missing In KC” forum this Saturday, at the Lucille H. Bluford Library, 3050 Prospect, 10am. This free event will focus on the wide-spread disparities of missing persons in the Black community, with these cases less likely to be solved than those of white missing persons. The panel will also address the issue of sex trafficking as a contributing factor in the KC metro, the role of law enforcement, community organizing and more. Founder of Shirley’s Kitchen Cabinet, Michele Watley, shares details about this important topic and this weekend’s event.
