Newly appointed Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves made history when she was sworn in Thursday, December 15th. The 47th police chief is the first female to hold the post. She is a 25-year veteran of the department.

While many celebrated the move, others were still critical about the process that led to the three finalists. Community input sessions were held, where citizens voiced what they wanted in the next chief. However, many felt there was a lack of transparency as the police board dwindled down the candidates. Pastor of United Believers Community Church, Darron Edwards, was a vocal opponent about the process. Nonetheless, he’s now hopeful with the outcome.

Listen in as he discusses expectations with the new chief, how the community can hold the department accountable and more.
