Last week Kendrick Lamar announced the release date of his new album for March 23rd. This week, he released the official cover and title for the album, “To Pimp A Butterfly”. Yesterday he released the official track listing for the album.
The image is a black and white image of a group of black men standing in front of the White House holding piles of cash and alcohol. A white man with X’s over his eyes, holding a gavel is lying down in front of them. It’s definitely going to get people talking about the direction this album may take, which may be more political. “The Blacker the Berry,” the only song to be revealed from this new album, certainly fits that bill.
