Did you know this Sunday, May 16th is “No Menthol Sunday”?

No Menthol Sunday is an international observance day led by The Center for Black Health & Equity. It’s designed to create the opportunity to engage faith leaders and their congregants in a discussion about improving health outcomes for Black Americans. One way to do that is to talk about the dangers of tobacco in our communities. Tobacco is still the number one killer of Black Americans and menthol cigarettes are a major contributing factor.

Portia Reddick White, Vice President, Strategic Partnerships, Campaign for Tobacco-Free gives the real tea on menthol cigarettes. She speaks on how the tobacco industry targets the Black community with menthol cigarettes, the impact on health, why they are harder to quit and more. She also explains the purpose of No Menthol Sunday: how our faith spaces can help fuel the conversation on the dangers of menthol cigarettes and contribute to better health results for Black Americans.
