As we wind up Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, we must continue the conversation surrounding mental health in the Black community. The late author was a mental health advocate, co-founder of NAMI Urban Los Angeles and their national spokesperson. She passed away in November 2006 but her legacy continues and will be honored locally this Saturday.

The Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is once again joining forces with Missouri State Senator Barbara A. Washington and Metropolitan Leadership Institute, Inc., to host “Brunch with Bebe’s Sisters”. It’s a free event taking place this Saturday, July 30th at MCC-Penn Valley Education Center. This important discussion surrounding mental health features a fireside chat with actor Malik Yoba, who is a mental health advocate for men. Listen in as my soror and State Senator Barbara A. Washington shares more.
