Breast Cancer Survivor and Author Dr. Neosho Ponder Celebrates Life

It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I want to highlight one amazing survivor, author, educator, consultant and KC native, Dr. Neosho Ponder. While her resume is impressive, her story makes her all the more remarkable. In 2016, one year after graduating from Howard University with a Ph.D. in Communication, Culture, and Media Studies, her life took a sharp turn when she discovered a lump in her left breast.
Neosho’s audacious faith and tenacity helped her in the fight. Then, she shared her own journey with others. In her first book, “God’s Got Jokes”, she recounts the hardships of unexpected homelessness, chemo treatment, surgical complications, losing loved ones, and the day-to-day journey through cancer.

So why the title? Because her faith in God, resilience, and humor saved her life.

Check out our chat about her book and journey. Join Neosho at the Celebration of Life Walk tomorrow at Deliverance Temple, 4411 Kensington. The celebration kicks off at 9am.
