The spotlight was on Kansas City and the problem about missing Black women last October, after a 22-year-old Black woman escaped from a home in Excelsior Springs. She had been held captive by Timothy M. Haslett Jr., 39, now facing charges of rape, kidnapping and assault in Clay County. While that was alarming, another horrific statistic is at the forefront.
Black women are killed in Missouri at a rate higher than every other state in this country.
