Kansas City PBS is celebrating Black History Month with a new four-part series, GOSPEL, from Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. This series explores how gospel music transcends its religious origins as the cornerstone of American music. While the series will premiere on Kansas City PBS Channel 19.1 on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 12th and 13th, you can catch a preview screening event taking place tomorrow (February 6th), at the Gem Theater in Kansas City’s Historic 18th and Vine Jazz District.

The screening includes a panel featuring some KC gospel heavy hitters and a performance Kami Woodard, named Best Gospel Artist in the 2023 Kansas City People’s Choice Awards. Kynala Phillips, PBS Communications and Engagement Manager, shares more about this free event.
