Community Corner: March 17-23 is National Safe Place Week for Teens

download-9

This week, March 17-23, is National Safe Place Week. Have you seen the yellow and black Safe Place signs on buildings around town? Ever wonder what they mean? The Safe Place sign indicates that any young person can enter the location and ask for help. Local Safe Place locations include all local QuikTrips, Public Libraries, many Fire Stations and YMCA’s.

Teens that find themselves in a tough situation and need help right away can look for the yellow Safe Place sign. They can then tell an employee at the location they need assistance. A volunteer or staff member from Synergy Services will arrive to intervene. Listen in as Safe Place Coordinator for Kansas City, Rick Chamness, shares more.
