Community Corner: Food Drive and Resource Fair for Wyandotte County Students

The Kansas City, Kansas School Foundation for Excellence will host a pair of events to help students in Wyandotte County prepare for the upcoming 2024-25 school year.

The Foundation will host a Food Drive and Resource Rally on Thursday, August 8, at the Homefield KC Baseball Complex, located at 1501 N. 90th St., in Kansas City, Kansas, from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The event will be a drive-through format where participants will enter the stadium parking lot and receive a 25-pound box of food items (canned vegetables, cereal, pasta, pasta sauce), personal care products, children’s books, and more. The Food Drive and Resource Fair benefits Wyandotte County residents, who must provide proof of residence to participate.

In the meantime, the 25th Annual Back to School & Health Fair takes place Saturday, August 10, at 9250 State Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Students will receive school supplies (notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, highlighters), backpacks, hygiene kits and more.
