This Monday, January 20th, KC metro graduate chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Incorporated® will honor the life and legacy of civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with the “We Are One—Day of Service.”

This past Wednesday was the 117th Founders’ Day. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is the oldest established Greek-letter organization for Black women, founded on January 15th at Howard University in 1908. Our mission is to provide service to all mankind, and there is no better way to do so than serving our community for MLK Day 2025.

The day is full beginning with a donation drive at MLK Elementary School, followed by a beautification project, and wrapping up with a financial literacy seminar. Listen in as Xi Tau Omega Chapter President Dr. Mya Lawrence and 1st Vice President Kedra Bennekin share more.
