Allies for Racial Justice, a partnership between Resurrection, A United Methodist Church, and St. James United Methodist Church, will host an annual Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 21, at St. James Church, 5540 Wayne Avenue, KCMO 64110. The Pre-Talk, “From Slave to Soldier,” will begin at 4 PM, followed by the musical “Praise” program at 5 PM.

Juneteenth commemorates the end of chattel slavery in the United States, and this event will honor the occasion with music, song, spoken word, and stepping. The community-wide event is free and open to everyone. This intergenerational program will provide many historical insights. Anita Maltbia, Program Chair, shares more.
